Jimmy's Experience
Right next door to one of Boise's best bicycle shops is an appropriately bicycle-decorated coffee house known not only for good coffee, but for a rather unique offering: waffles. In fact, they offer six different waffles, complete with toppings that run the gamut from traditional peanut butter to hot applesauce.
This place is a large, almost sprawling shop with lots of cozy places to sit while sipping your beverage of choice as you yak with friends, surf the 'net using their free wi-fi, or just read a book. It has an eclectic, thrift-shop appeal with dated furnishings that remind me of sitting in my Grandma's house. In fact, the couch in the back room is so much like my Grandma's old one that I spent a good ten minutes looking for a grape juice stain I made on it when I was six. It wasn't there, if you're wondering, so it's not the same couch, or they did a great job cleaning it.
For those of you familiar with the Big City shop in the Linen District, the two are so different that to compare them doesn't do either justice. What is the same is the large variety of enormous baked goods. My last visit found me trying to gnaw my way through a lingonberry scone that seemed to regenerate itself faster than I could chew. It was good, but half the size would still require an additional 20 minutes at
the gym.
If you're passing through West Boise on State Street and you're in the mood for a good cup of coffee, a snack, or some space to just chill, stop on in; you can thank me later.
